Expressive Prosody

Elements

  • Range of Intonation

Rise and Fall of voice (and combinations of the two) can help communicate the speaker's message more clearly.

  • Volume

Raising your voice will help focus the listener on the key ideas being expressed.

  • Length

Lengthening words will help focus the listener on the word, it is also used to allow clearer use of intonation by giving time to actually voice the intonation.

  • Creative Pausing

Pausing can be used to really force the listener to follow your logic and grasp your key ideas.
