  • radio_button_unchecked "Do you have any idea how to solve this problem?"
  • check_circle "What are the actions you have already planned?"
  • brightness_1 "Do you have any idea how to solve this problem?"
  • brightness_1 "What are the actions you have already planned?"
  • cancel "Do you have any idea how to solve this problem?"

ANALYSIS:

By stressing GOING TO (which means ‘to have an intention to”) the speaker is asking about what plans have already been decided upon.

NOTES:

The PAUSE after GOING TO and the LENGTHENING of the word combine to really emphasize the direction of the question. The second CHUNK focuses on THIS (rather than PROBLEM or FIX) which is a little bit more friendly and less challenging. Focusing on PROBLEM would highlight the difficulties that has been created, and focusing on FIX might suggest that the solution needs to be completely permanent, ‘fixed’ for good.

    MESSAGE:

" Do you have any idea how to solve this problem?"

    ANALYSIS:

By giving a PAUSE after ‘HOW’ it makes the single word into it’s own CHUNK – and therefore of great value to the meaning. The listener cannot escape the FOCUS of the speaker. HOW = “What on earth can you do?”

    NOTES:

The second CHUNK then stresses on FIX, this then focuses the listener on how the problem is going to be completely fixed. Alternatives could be GOING (so what’s your plan?) or PROBLEM (which would really stress that the current situation is unacceptable).
